The easy path was available. Dozens of respectable movements can be bought, cased and shipped inside a year. We took the other path, and it took four.
A movement is an argument about time made in metal. Ours argues for legibility, serviceability and endurance: a balance running at a classical frequency, bridges that a watchmaker in 2070 will be able to disassemble with standard tools, and a rotor engraved with the meridian of our workshop.
The Calibre One is regulated in six positions over three days. It leaves the bench running within four seconds a day. It could be made faster and cheaper, and it never will be.
